Privacy
The short version: the words you type, the stories you write and the sheets you print stay in your browser.
No accounts, no uploads
There is nothing to sign up for. The stories are part of the pages themselves, and every game, sheet and check is worked out on your device. Your answers and your own stories are never sent to a server. The site asks for no personal information, from children or anyone else.
What is stored in your browser
Chuckle Quartz does not use cookies. It keeps three things in your browser’s local storage, and nowhere else:
chucklequartz-theme: light or dark, if you change the color theme with the button in the header.chucklequartz-draft: the title and story you are writing in the story game maker, so it is still there next time.chucklequartz-games: the games you press Save on in the story game maker.
Answers in the story game and quiz scores are kept only while the page is open. To remove what is stored, delete your saved games in the maker, switch the theme back to Auto, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
Share links
A share link from the story game maker carries your story inside the link, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to any server, so your story is not stored online. Anyone you give the link to can read and play it.
Read it aloud, copying and printing
Read it aloud uses a speech voice built into your device, and the button only appears when such a voice is available, so the story is not sent to an online speech service. The site writes to your clipboard only when you press a copy button, and never reads from it. Printing and saving as PDF are done by your browser.
Analytics
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type, paste or choose in the games. Like any website, the server that delivers the pages (Cloudflare) handles your IP address in order to send them to you.
Links to other sites
Links in the footer and the Recommended section go to other websites, which have their own privacy policies. Nothing about your visit here is passed to them.
